Cabot Australian Timber Oil for Decks and Outdoor Furniture is a unique blend of oils originally formulated to protect dense tallowwood, cambara and merbau from the extreme Australian exposures. Now this technology is available in the United States as a proven translucent oil treatment for mahogany, teak and other premium exotic wood surfaces used for decks and outdoor furniture. Australian Timber Oil penetrates deep into the dense, resin-rich woods to accentuate natural wood depth and patina. Containing a precise blend of superb-grade linseed oil for maximum penetration, long-oil alkyds for durability and pure South American tung oil for color depth and water repellency, Australian Timber Oil delivers three-way oil protection. In addition, complex translucent iron oxide pigments are added to ensure a lasting U.V.-absorbing surface rich with color and dimension. The result after years of development is an advanced-technology treatment of unrivaled performance designed to protect your exotic wood surfaces like never before.

NOTE: Made from Pure linseed oil. This is not a water base product. Offers superior penetration into wood surfaces. Long oil alkyds impart lasting durability to heavy traffic surfaces and assist in dry time. Great UV protection.

Coverage
On smooth surfaces, approximately 400-600 square feet per gallon (9.8-14.7 square meters per liter); on rough surfaces, 250-350 square feet per gallon (6.1-8.6 square meters per liter). These rates will vary depending upon the porosity of the surface.

Where to Use
Now this technology is available in the United States as a proven translucent oil treatment for mahogany, teak and other premium exotic wood surfaces used for decks and outdoor furniture.

Preparing Your Surfaces
Proper surface preparation is the key to maximum finish performance. The durability of this product can be impaired by an unsound or poorly prepared surface. It is very important the surface be clean of all dirt, mildew stains, loose wood fibers and other foreign matter. Surfaces must be structurally sound and absolutely dry. (Moisture content must be below 15%, or the wood must be exposed to dry weather for a minimum of 3 to 5 days.) Use Cabot Problem-Solver® Wood Cleaner and a stiff bristle brush or power wash to remove the surface layer of all loose wood fibers, dirt, mildew stains and other foreign matter. For new and weathered wood surfaces, a light sanding with 80-100 grit sandpaper is recommended to open the pores for maximum penetration. Use Cabot Problem-Solver Wood Stripper #8004 or #8005 to help remove oil-based finishes from wood surfaces. Use Cabot Problem-Solver Wood Brightener to easily remove tannic acid (extractive) bleeding, nail and metal rust stains, and renew the wood's appearance. Most woods will require sanding after the use of Problem-Solver Wood Cleaner and Wood Stripper. Also, some woods may turn darker in color when using Problem-Solver Wood Stripper.

Application
Optimal results can be obtained by using a pure lambswool applicator, although a high-quality, natural bristle brush also yields excellent results. When spraying Cabot Australian Timber Oil for Decks and Outdoor Furniture, immediately backbrush after each section is coated to ensure proper penetration. To avoid lap marks, start at one edge and follow through to the end of the boards. Apply Cabot Australian Timber Oil for Decks and Outdoor Furniture to small sections at a time, 2-3 boards at a time. Product that does not penetrate must be removed or rubbed into the boards parallel to the wood grain. For outdoor furniture: Best results can be achieved by hand rubbing the finish into the wood grain by using a soft cloth or lambswool applicator.

Cleanup and Disposal
Clean brushes and equipment with mineral spirits. Dispose of empty cans or unused portion in accordance with local, state and federal regulations. Close container when not in use. Soak oily rags, lambswool, steel wool, cloths or any other material in water after use to avoid spontaneous combustion. Danger: Rags, steel wood or waste soaked with this product may spontaneously catch fire if improperly discarded. Immediately after each use, place rags, steel wool or waste in a sealed, water-filled metal container.
