Remove all loose dirt and scaly or powdery material. All metal, including nail heads, should be primed with a metal primer. UGL 222 Spackling Paste and surface temperature of area to be patched must be above 50°F. All exterior applications must be painted.

If you scrape, sand, or remove old paint, you may release lead dust. LEAD IS TOXIC. EXPOSURE TO LEAD DUST CAN CAUSE SERIOUS ILLNESS, SUCH AS BRAIN DAMAGE, ESPECIALLY IN CHILDREN. PREGNANT WOMEN SHOULD ALSO AVOID EXPOSURE. Wear a NIOSH- approved respirator to control lead exposure. Clean up carefully with a HEPA vacuum and a wet mop. Apply with a putty knife or broad knife. Deep cracks should be filled in two steps, allowing the material to dry thoroughly between applications. To patch sand-finish plaster, add white sand to match the texture of the adjoining area.

UGL 222 Spackling Paste can be painted over immediately after drying with any type of decorative finish.
Prolonged contact with skin during mixing or application may cause irritation some cases. If splashed on skin or in eyes, flush thoroughly with water.
