DAP WELDWOOD Multi-Purpose Ceramic Tile Adhesive may be used for the interior installation of ceramic tile on walls, floors, and countertops. It bonds to masonry, fully cured plaster, gypsum panels, exteriorgrade plywood and cementitious backerboards. DAP WELDWOOD Multi-Purpose Ceramic Tile Adhesive meets ANSI A-136.1 Type I requirements. NOTE: Do not use DAP WELDWOOD Multi- Purpose Ceramic Tile Adhesive for the installation of button-back tile or for tiles over 8"x8". DAP WELDWOOD Multi-Purpose Ceramic Tile Adhesive is not recommended for use over non-porous substrates.

Suggested Uses:
Multi-Purpose adhesive for installing most types of ceramic tile on walls, floors, and countertops.

Performance Characteristics:
Meets ANSI A136.1 Type I Requirements

Installation Tips:
Maintain adhesive, tile, and room at a stable temperature of at least 70oF (21oC) for 24 hours before and after
installation and provide adequate ventilation for at least 72 hours or until adhesive odors cannot be detected.

Surface Preparation & Application:

Surface:
Surface must be porous. Surface must be structurally sound, clean and free of dust, dirt, paint, soap
film, oil, adhesive, grease, chemical concrete-curing compounds, and other foreign material that could inhibit
bond.

Walls:
Patch large holes, replace loose plaster and smooth or level surfaces with a fast-setting underlayment
and allow to completely cure and dry out. With flat side of trowel, prime with a skim coat of DAP®
WELDWOOD® Multi-Purpose Ceramic Tile Adhesive. Allow to dry 2 to 4 hours or until notched trowel
application does not break skim coat seal. Above tub and shower receptors, cut away wall materials 1/4” above
edges and fill void with adhesive. Seal all cut edges of wall material and pack all openings with generous
amount of adhesive. Allow to dry 2 to 4 hours.

Floors:
Exterior grade plywood must be securely fastened and free of flexibility. Concrete floors must be level
to a tolerance of 1/8” in 10’, fully cured (at least 28 days), free of moisture, alkalinity, hydrostatic pressure and
not subject to dampness or seepage.

NOTE: It is the responsibility of the user to determine the dryness of all subfloors prior to installation, a
moisture test may be necessary. Follow cementitious underlayment manufacturer’s instructions for installation.

Application:
Plan tile layout, then spread adhesive with trowel held at a 45-degree angle to the surface. Apply
no more adhesive than can be covered in 25 to 35 minutes. Due to superior wet adhesive qualities, wall tiles can
be set from the top of the substrate to the bottom. Press, do not slide, tiles or sheets of tile into wet adhesive.
Maintain accurate joint alignment and spacing of tiles as they are positioned into adhesive.
To level and ensure solid tile positioning, use a wood or rubber-faced beating block tapped lightly with a rubber
mallet. Check occasionally to ensure average adhesive/title contact is not less than 80% except on shower walls
and tub installations where contact area must be 95%. To ensure 100% coverage, apply a thin layer of adhesive
on the back of each tile before firmly pressing it into wet adhesive. This method, “back-buttering” is
recommended for pavers, quarry tile, 6”x 6”, and 8” x 8” tiles. Avoid adhesive squeeze-up between tiles.

Note to Contractor:
All installation shall use procedures set forth in ANSI A-108.4 and the current TCA
Handbook for Ceramic Tile Installation. Those procedures supersede this label where applicable.

Open Time:
Approximately 25 to 35 minutes after application to substrate. Open time may vary depending on
trowel size and climatic conditions.

Cure Time:
Walls and countertops may be grouted with an appropriate grout after adhesive has set for 24
hours. For floors, allow adhesive to set for 24 to 72 hours depending on temperature, humidity and porosity of
substrate and tile. Use an appropriate grout to complete floor tile installation. Do not allow traffic over tiles
prior to grouting.
